Almost two decades after it disappeared from shelves, an iconic Cadbury favourite popular in the 2000s has been spotted on supermarket shelves once more.

The Cadbury Dairy Milk Shortcake Biscuit bars were discontinued back in 2008, but now, they’ve been given new life.

Fans of the sweet treat have spotted it exclusively in B&M across the UK.

The snack made it into the New Foods UK Facebook group – and no doubt, chocolate aficionados took a moment to reminisce about its glory days.

‘I used to love the UK version of this…it was lush,’ penned Kat Palmer, while Charlotte Newbold said ‘off to B&M I go!’

Meanwhile, Ruby Wren confessed that she used to ‘love this one in the early 2000s,’ adding that she ‘missed it so much.’

Kelsey Daniels said ‘I want 10 bars please!! This was my fave chocolate!!!!!’, and Helen Macleod said it was the ‘best ever’ treat.

In fact, fans of the bar have been so dedicated to the cause that they even created a Facebook group. Their cause was simple: Bring Back The Cadbury Dairy Milk Shortcake Biscuit Bar. What a campaign slogan, hey?

Swiftly after learning of their return, Sheyy Jade ran down to B&M, posting a haul of four chocolate bars – and in the comments, Lydia Neave Hodgson admitted to being ‘fully stocked up’ already.

Naturally though, there’s a catch. A spokesperson for Mondelēz International told MailOnline that these bars aren’t sold directly by the UK branch, and that the B&M bars have come from another market.

To date, Cadbury also operates in Ireland, the US, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, India, Malta, and South Africa.

‘We discontinued the similar Cadbury Dairy Milk Shortcake Biscuit bar in the UK in 2008 and we have no current plans to bring the product back,’ they confirmed.

Metro has contacted Mondelēz International for comment.

That’s not all that’s been going on in the world of Cadbury favourites lately. Earlier this week, the confectionery giant announced it would be launching a brand-new chocolate bar.

Known as the Cadbury Twirl White Dipped, the new chocolate takes the iconic Twirl bar that everyone knows and loves and elevates it by dipping the swirled chocolate in a white chocolate coating.

The dipped Twirls are limited-edition and will only be available in limited quantities from June 2, so you’ll want to try one while you can.

Little-known chocolate bar sold in supermarkets is being hailed as ‘better than Cadbury’

When Cadbury launched their Dairy Milk Biscoff bar, it was sure to be a match made in confectionary heaven.

The iconic OG of milk chocolate, combined with a caramelised biscuit that’s reached God Tier status.

But fans were left ‘disappointed’ by the collab, saying that they ‘couldn’t really taste the Biscoff’ and it had a ‘grainy’ texture.

The bar was perhaps not quite what snackers had in mind, with ‘crumbs’ of Biscoff nestled in the milk chocolate, instead of lashings of the popular spread.

But, before you head back to your Biscoff jar with a spoon, there’s a delicious alternative you need to know about.

In the aisles of Lifestyle Editor Kristina Beanland’s local Co-op, she came across Biscoff’s own brand Milk Chocolate with Biscoff Spread.

It might not have a punchy name, but as a long-time Biscoff lover (she was a fan when it was simply a plastic-wrapped biscuit served with a cuppa), she was intrigued.
