The May bank holiday is an excellent opportunity to treat yourself to a takeaway or some fast food.

It’s an ideal time to kick back and relax instead of cooking yourself a full meal – and with the weather forecast to be cooling down, you might want to skip the idea of a picnic and order in some comfort food classics.

This May Bank Holiday also coincides with glorious VE Day celebrations, even more reason to order something from McDonald’s, Greggs, or KFC and check out what’s going on.

People across the country will be treating themselves to beer garden outings, barbecues, and maybe even a meal from their favourite fast food restaurant.

But be mindful as some branches might not be open this bank holiday Monday, or have reduced hours.

Most McDonald’s restaurants will operate normal hours on bank holiday Monday.

Many restaurants across the country do offer takeaway, but it is also worth checking the status of your local branch over on McDonald’s store location feature.

You can also order your Big Mac through Uber Eats, Deliveroo or Just Eat, among others, with the apps themselves able to tell you if your closest outlet is open.

Most Greggs outlets will be open on bank holiday Monday, but times will vary depending on the size of the branch.

A lot of Greggs branches are also now available on home delivery apps, should you wish to bring that steak bake to you.

KFC bank holiday Monday 2025 opening times

KFC branches are largely also operating regular hours on bank holiday Monday.

Once again, this can change from venue to venue, so make sure to check the KFC finder online.

KFC is currently open for takeaway and drive-thru at certain locations, as well as being available on a number of delivery apps.
