Little-known chocolate bar sold in supermarkets is being hailed as ‘better than Cadbury’

When Cadbury launched their Dairy Milk Biscoff bar, it was sure to be a match made in confectionary heaven.

The iconic OG of milk chocolate, combined with a caramelised biscuit that’s reached God Tier status.

But fans were left ‘disappointed’ by the collab, saying that they ‘couldn’t really taste the Biscoff’ and it had a ‘grainy’ texture.

The bar was perhaps not quite what snackers had in mind, with ‘crumbs’ of Biscoff nestled in the milk chocolate, instead of lashings of the popular spread.

Essentially, the Biscoff didn’t have much oomph.

But, before you head back to your Biscoff jar with a spoon, there’s a delicious alternative you need to know about,

In the aisles of my local Co-op, I came across Biscoff’s own brand Milk Chocolate with Biscoff Spread.

It might not have a punchy name, but as a long-time Biscoff lover (I was a fan when it was simply a plastic-wrapped biscuit served with your cuppa) I was intrigued.

Having also been left feeling a little ‘meh’ by the Dairy Milk offering, I braced myself… and, the good news is, the Lotus bar did not disappoint.

This Lotus bar isn’t knew — having launched in August 2022 — but it’s less well-known than Cadbury’s offering, and availability varies from store to store.

Currently, you can find it in Co-op for £3 (reduced from £3.60) and it’s available online from Sainsbury’s (£3.50), Morrisons (£3.50), Tesco (£3.50) and Asda (£2.98) — although you may not find it in store.

And yes, while it’s on the pricey side for a chocolate bar (the Dairy Milk Biscoff is currently on offer in Sainsbury’s for £1) it’s well worth it.

The bar is basically a very thick layer of Biscoff spread encased in creamy milk chocolate, with some added crunchiness of the biscuit itself. It’s chunky, at a a similar size to M&S’s new Big Daddy bars.

If the Cadbury version wasn’t enough Biscoff for you, then this bar has it in spades. It’s the overwhelming flavour by a long way, with the added kick of chocolate.

Of course, it’s sweet so you won’t want much – but it’s handily separated into squares (okay, rectangles) that actually make for a pretty decent portion.

I’ve become pretty addicted since spotting the bars – which I give a solid 10/10 – but you don’t just have to take my word for it.

Fans online have also been sharing their love for Biscoff’s own brand version.

‘100% would eat again, absolutely insane,’ wrote TikToker Aimee Liggins in her review. While creator Katie Snooks said: ‘I think this is going to be very, very addictive.’

And reviewer Sevda Ela said: ‘Very nice, worth every penny.’

The bar is also available in white chocolate, which some have said is ‘even better’.
